Vacuum tubes.-In a valve with spherical electrodes according to the parent Specification, two or more grids are provided, to one or more of which a high potential is applied so as to cause it to act as a screening grid. As shown a spherically-wound, filament cathode is surrounded in turn by a control grid b, a screening grid c, and an anode a, the leads for the grid c or anode a or both being connected with contacts g at one end of the envelope, and the leads for the other electrodes with contacts j at the other end. Two or more of such structures may be mounted in a single envelope, and electrodes may be of hemispherical or segmental form without departing from the general spherical arrangement. One or more equipotential cathodes may be used.
