Change-speed and reversing gearing; driving auxiliary parts. -In an oil - driven traction engine the change-speed gear has transverse shafts c, d, the latter having a pinion e driving a large gear wheel f<1> which provides an additional reducing gear for the road wheels and the winding drum and also serves as an idler wheel through which a belt pulley j is driven. The pulley-shaft j' is thus arranged well above the engine shaft b. The gear wheel f<1> is on a shaft f driving the winding drum h through reducing gear f<3>, h<1> and the road wheels through reducing gear f<2>, g<1> and differential gear g<2>. The change-speed and reversing gearing comprises sliding toothed wheels c<2>, d<2> and d' having clutch surfaces adapted to engage the adjoining wheels which are fixed on their respective shafts c, d.
