Abstract

206,398. Bastin, J. Dec. 19, 1922. Spray carburettors.-A valve device for admitting supplementary air to the induction pipe or to the carburettor comprises a piston valve 1 having an annular groove 11 which is brought into register with ports 12, 14 connected to the atmosphere, and ports 13, 15 connected to the induction pipe or carburettor, by means of a centrifugal governor 8, the arms 7 of which act on a sliding piston or spring 9 bearing through one or more balls 10 on the end of the valve. The action of the governor is opposed by an adjustable spring 2. The ports 12, 13 may be triangular. Two or more valves may work simultaneously or in succession. The port 14 may be connected to the crank case, so that air saturated with oil vapour is drawn therefrom. One or more liquids may also be admitted with the air.
