Abstract

Fluid governors.-A supplementary throttle valve 23 is placed in the induction pipe of an internal-combustion engine downstream of the main throttle valve 2 and is actuated by the difference between the pressure downstream of the supplementary valve and atmospheric pressure. The piston valve 23 is secured to a piston 35 in a cylinder open to atmosphere through the passage 44, and is located in a cylinder 22 which acts as a dash-pot the action of which may be regulated by adjusting the washer 40 which has holes registering with holes 42 in the valve. The valve is moved to close the ports 20 by a reduction of pressure in the induction pipe and by the cases impinging on the curved surface 25 against the action of the adjustable spring 28.
