Abstract
166,116. Gausmann, C. July 7, 1920, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus. -Apparatus for raising liquid, such as fuel for internal-combustion engines, comprises a chamber m connected by a pipe a to a source of suction, by a pipe d to a reservoir of the liquid to be raised, and by a valve c to the atmosphere. The float h controlling the suction and atmospheric valves b, c carries a cup f into which the pipe d delivers to load the float and retard the closing of the valve b and opening of the valve c. The liquid in the cup f is discharged through a siphon g, and when the chamber n is empty the float opens the valve b and closes the valve c. The siphon may be valve-controlled, or it may be dispensed with and the pipe d carried to the bottom of the cup. The valves b, c and pipe d are arranged in a common member mounted on the chamber. The chamber m discharges into a chamber n connected to the carburettor &c.
