Abstract
174,927. Weymann, C. T. Feb. 2, 1921, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus.-Apparatus for raising liquid such as fuel for internal-combustion engines, comprises a vessel a connected by a pipe d to the liquid supply, by pipes l, j<1> to a source of suction, and by a valve f to the atmosphere. As the liquid rises in the vessel, a small float p closes a valve n and cuts off the suction from the vessel. The suction then raises a piston h against the action of a spring i and opens the valve f. The liquid flows through a valve e into an outer vessel c, the float p opens the valve n, suction is re-established in the vessel a, and the spring i depresses the piston h and closes the valve f. In another form, the vessel a is constantly open to suction, and the float p operates a valve controlling the admission of suction to the underside of the piston h, which is normally open to atmosphere.
