Abstract

214,641. Bolsezian, G. April 18, 1923, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus. - In a vacuum fuel-feed apparatus, comprising a suction chamber 1 and an auxiliary chamber 2 connected to the carburettor, the suction port is controlled by a valve 12 operated bv a float rod 3 which carries the atmospheric valve 7. The red 3 carries also a valve 8 controlling the flow from the chamber 1 to the chamber 2. When the float rod descends the inlet recesses on the surface of the valve 7 enter the chamber 1 and cut off atmospheric pressure, and the suction valve 12 opens slightly. Atmospheric pressure then acts on top of the rod 3 and forces the rod and float down so that the valve 12 opens fully. As the chamber 1 fills. the float is held down until its buoyancy is sufficient to overcome the atmospheric pressure on the rod when the valve 7 opens suddenly. At the same time the recesses in the valve 8 enter the chamber 1 and allow the fuel to flow into the chamber 2.
