Starting.-A priming-device comprises a priming-cup b or other petrol-supply device, an automatic valve c<1> for admitting the petrol to the cylinder on the suction stroke, and an automatic pressure-relief valve f which opens on the compression stroke. The device is mounted on a compression cock a, and the priming-cup has a cover b' and may have air inlets in the upper part. A number of priming-cups may be supplied by a pipe from the petrol tank or a separate reservoir, the compression cocks being coupled for simultaneous actuation from the dash.
