Abstract

201,715. Bailey, S. L. June 24, 1922. Spray carburettors.-In engines having opposed cylinders G, H in the same vertical plane and with crank-pins at 180‹, the crank case is provided with inlet and outlet valves B, C and serves as a pump to force air through the pipe D to the carburettor E, the float chamber M and the fuel tank being connected to the pipe D by balancing pipes L, J. The crank case is thereby cooler and the air for the carburettor warmed. The valve C or a special valve is either mechanically actuated or its time of opening mechanically controlled so that it opens preferably towards the end of the induction stroke.
