Abstract

334,303. Kerruish, T. June 13, 1929. Vacuum apparatus.-In a fuel supply system for a car. buretter, in which fuel is drawn through a pipe 10 into a float chamber 8 from a low-level tank by engine suction acting through a pipe 9, the float 11 relieves the suction by opening an air valve 13, and a non-return valve 15 enables the fuel to flow into the main chamber which supplies the nozzle 4. The chamber 7 is formed as a unit with the carburetter body. Lost motion may be provided between the float and the stem of the valve 13, which may be held open by balls engaging an annular groove in the valve stem. The valve 13 may be replaced by a ported plug valve.
