Abstract

264,344. Matthews, W. C. Feb. 18, 1926. Cylinders, cooling; four-stroke-cycle engines.-Water supplied through a pipe c is sprayed on to the exterior of a cylinder by pressure from the cylinder acting through a pipe d and controlled by a valve e. Also a small quantity of water is drawn into the cylinder through the pipe d for moistening the charge- A non-return valve in the pipe d may be used when desired to prevent water being drawn into the cylinder.
