Abstract

431,856. Ejecting exhaust. KADENACY, M., 120, Rue Lecourbe, Paris. Dec. 13, 1933, No. 35067. Convention date, Aug. 1. [Class 7 (ii)] The column of exhaust gases in an adjustable outlet pipe is arranged to produce a vacuum in the engine cylinder and induce a fresh charge through a mechanically opened valve; this valve is opened only when the oscillating column of gases has produced a steady outward flow of gases in the exhaust pipe and not during the preliminary oscillating period prior to such flow. The pipe may be of increasing cross-sections towards the ' outlet and be telescopic ; a non-return valve may prevent back flow. In a modification reversed flow of the gases is prevented by placing a closed tube 11 over the end of the outlet pipe from the cylinder, this tube being enclosed in a larger chamber 10 ; the position of the tube 11 is adjustable on the pipe 7. The tube 11 may telescope in another carried by the pipe 7. At starting air under pressure may be supplied. Specification 100,728, [Class 7 (ii)], is referred to.
