Abstract
592,995. Pumps. SANDERS, A. F. June 5, 1945, No. 14106. [Class 7 (ii)] Exhaust gas acts directly on a column of air in an exhaust passage 13 to compress it when an engine-actuated valve 19 is closed, through a non-return valve 17 into a receiver 18 whence it may flow for re-charging the engine cylinder. The air is drawn into the passage 13 through a non-return valve 16, or an injector, and the exhaust gas is discharged through the valve 19. In a two-stroke engine the exhaust gas may be discharged from a piston-controlled cylinder port.
