Abstract

612,224. Two-stroke engines. HARDINGE, A. L. May 20, 1946, No. 15204. [Class 7 (ii)] A small capacity compression - ignition engine has a carburetted mixture drawn into the crankcase through a port 23, compressed on the down-stroke of the piston and admitted to the combustion chamber opposite a piston deflector 19 by at least two ports 18, which are so directed that the two streams of mixture impinge in the combustion chamber and so improve atomisation. The cylinder 9 is connected to the crank-case by a flange 10 and bolts 11 and compression ratio adjustment is facilitated by a bolt 21 and contra-piston 20.
