Abstract

410,047. Cylinders. HASSON, P. R., and COOPER, H., Steam Plough and Locomotive Works, Leeds. Dec. 14, 1933, No. 35240. [Class 7 (ii).] Whirling of the incoming air charge is effected by arranging an inlet passage on the side of the valve stem b away from the cylinder axis, and continuing the floor of the passage to form a lip c adjacent the valve seat which may be detachable, as shown, or not. Preferably the passage and the lip slope downwards and on the other side the passage is bulged round the fuel-injection device.
