Abstract

417,221. Oil engines. PERKINS, F. A., 17, Queen Street, Peterborough. March 29, 1933, No. 31585. Divided out of 401,703. [Class 7 (iii).] To facilitate starting, a fuel-injection nozzle 17 is located in a side wall of a transfer passage 15 leading from the engine cylinder tangentially into a combustion chamber 14, and is arranged to direct fuel towards the engine cylinder. Part of the fuel is also directed towards the combustion chamber, which is cylindrical and provided with a removable cap 33, and which may contain a hot plug or the like to assist the ignition at starting. The nozzle is located between the inlet and exhaust valves and passes through a sleeve 25 in a water jacket 26. Specifications 270,673, [Class 7 (iii)], and 401,703 are referred to.
