Abstract
486,133. Oil engines. NATIONAL SUPPLY CORPORATION. Jan. 12, 1937, No. 910. Convention date, Sept. 24, 1936. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] An auxiliary combustion chamber 9 is connected, by a tangential passage 10, to a main combustion chamber 7 open to the cylinder. A fuel spray having a highly atomized portion and a dense core is delivered by an injector 6, the highly atomized portion being burnt in the chamber 7 whereas the core passes through the passage 10 and is broken up and burnt in the chamber 9. The combustion chamber 7 is disposed at one side of the cylinder and contains an inlet valve 15. The injection valve 20 is provided with a projecting pin having a conical restriction 25 and a conical enlargement 26 at its free end. During starting, communication between the chambers 7, 9 is interrupted by a plug valve 14.
