Abstract

526,218. Sparking plugs. STEWARD, G. K. March 10, 1939, No. 7843. [Class 7 (iv)] Combustion is initiated by a spark-gap in the chamber 33 which communicates by opening 37, 38 with the main combustion chamber and also by a narrow passage 34 with an inner chamber 32 into which air is induced through the non-return valve 46 during the engine suction-stroke. Passages 40 may connect the chamber 32 directly to the main combustion chamber. The hemispherical valve 46 is formed with a groove 48 and the plug 42 and valve casing with registering bores 43, 44.
