Abstract
204,833. Steinbecker, K. Aug. 15, 1922. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel. - An ignition chamber F is separated from the combustion space by a narrow passage c<1> branching into a plurality of passages d' at the ignition chamber end, means being provided for injecting fuel into the connecting passage c<1> and for cooling the branching passages d<1>. Cooling is effected either by injecting the fuel through ducts c<3> directly against the lower ends of the branching passages d', or by providing water-circulating passages d<2> surrounding them throughout the whole of their length. Both of these methods may be used in the same engine. A member E serves to ensure ignition in spite of the cooling of the passages, and incidentally acts as a screw cap to keep the member D in place.
