Abstract

420,276. Fuel - - injection pumps. GARDNER & SONS, Ltd., L., and GARDNER, J. H. S., Barton Hall Engine Works, Patricroft, near Manchester. May 9, 1934, No. 13989. [Class 102 (i)] Fuel is raised from a tank b by a pump a, which is a diaphragm pump fitted with a spring to actuate the diaphragm in the discharge stroke, and delivered to an auxiliary reservoir e. This reservoir has a restricted outlet connected to the tank b and a filter plate i so that the fuel is maintained at pressure in the reservoir which also serves to de-aerate it the air passing through the outlet j. The fuel injection pumps g are connected by pipe f to the reservoir. The fuel in the reservoir may be heated by the exhaust Leakage past the fuel injection valves is led by pipe m to the reservoir.
