Abstract

Spring - actuated pumps; air, removing; plungers; pipes. -A pump for priming an internal-combustion engine comprises a plunger 2 actuated on the suction stroke bv hand and on the delivery stroke by a spring 3. The plunger carries a valve 7 which, at the end of the delivery stroke, closes the inlet passage for the fuel. The fuel enters the barrel through a suction valve 8 and is delivered through a valve 9. The position of the valve 9 ensures that anv air in the barrel is delivered before the fuel. The spring 3 comprises the packing 5 of the gland.
