Abstract

518,594. Liquid-fuel piston pumps. S.P.I.C.A., CASSANI, F., and CASSANI, G. Sept. 21, 1938, No. 27548. [Class 102(i)] In a liquid-fuel pump for internal-combustion engines in which a single piston is displaced by a cam A or by hand against the action of a spring L, said piston drawing fuel into one end of the cylinder E through a suction valve during one stroke, which fuel is conveyed to the other side of the piston through a transfer valve during the other stroke of the piston for delivery to an injection pump or carburettor, the piston B is of hollow form which slides directly on the inner surface of the cylinder E, is mechanically coupled to a plunger C, and is provided in its operative end with a number of perforations G adapted to be closed by a spring-pressed transfer valve F slidably mounted within said piston. The chamber R on the delivery side of the piston is connected by a passage S which leads directly to the injection pump or carburetter through a second passage located on the same side of the axis of the piston as the supply pipe which leads to a filter and then to the suction valve.
