Abstract

Valveless pumps ; p u m p s combined with other types.- In a valveless fuel pump the fuel which enters the barrel 1 through a pipe 4 is forced on the downstroke through a pipe 6 into the upper end of the barrel where it mixes with air or air and atomized fuel forced through a space round the piston rod 3 by a diaphragm air pump 7, the diaphragm of which is associated with the plunger of the pump. The mixture is forced on the upstroke through the pipe 5 to the engine. Leakage fuel is returned from the cylinder 7 to the suction tank of the pump 1.
