Abstract

286,962. Egersd÷rfer, F. July 23, 1927. Cam-actuated pumps; drip, preventing; revolving-cylinder pumps; regulating delivery by opening delivery valves. - A fuel pump for internal-combustion engines comprises a revolving cylinder c provided with a passage q which communicates alternately with inlet and delivery conduits l, k in the fixed casing. A plunger d is reciprocated in the cylinder by a cam a provided with four rises g so that four deliveries may be made during each revolution of the cylinder. The rises g may have a quick drop on the suction side to cause a quick return of the plunger at the beginning of the suction stroke and thereby prevent drip at the injection nozzle. The delivery conduits k are formed in rotatable members m which may be angularly adjusted by a crank p and gear wheels to set varying portions of the elongated delivery ports k<2> in register with the channel q and thus vary the amount of fuel delivered.
