Abstract

Auxiliary gear; cam-and-lever actuated pumps; pumps with reciprocating and rotating piston; regulating delivery by opening by-passes.-A pump for delivering fuel to two or more cylinders of an internal combustion engine comprises a barrel c provided with an inlet f and two or more delivery ports m, n which register with a port p<2> in the plunger into an axial passage p<1>. The plunger is reciprocated by a cam r and lever s, and is rotated by screw gear 9, 18 and gearing 20, 21. A rod v engaging the lever s may be used for actuating the pump by hand or for stopping the pump by holding the lever away from the cam r. A by-pass throttle valve under the control of the governor through a cam and lever regulates the delivery. Lateral pressure on the plunger is equalized by providing a. port q on the opposite side to the port p<2>. Specifications 5912/00, [Class 7, Air and gas engines]; and 20582/09 are referred to.
