615,724. Single-acting multiple suction or multiple delivery pumps. TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Sept. 18, 1945, No. 24061. Convention date, June 29, 1944. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Group XXVII] The Figure shows a pump in which fuels are mixed and which supplies the fuel to an injector which is arranged either in an engine cylinder (see Group XXVII) or to inject the fuel into a stream of air on its way to the cylinder. One fuel is supplied to a port 48 and another fuel is supplied to a port 50. Rotation of the pump plunger 38 determines the quantity and proportions of the two fuels delivered by the pump. The plunger has a helical shoulder 60 which co-operates with the ports 48 and 50 and according to the angular position of the plunger more or less fuel is introduced from the respective ports. The sizes of the ports and pressures of the fuels can be varied. The pressure of fuel entering the port 48 may be relatively high. A non-return valve may be provided in the supply to the port 50. The rotation of the plunger is controlled by a rack and pinion 54. The plunger 38 may be set so that only fuel from either one or other of the ports is supplied by the pump. The injector and fuel pump may be combined into a single unit. The pump described forms the subjectmatter of Specification 615,719 referred to.
