Abstract

147,209. Jay, W. Jan. 2, 191S, [Converition date]. Vacuum apparatus. -Apparatus for raising fuel from a lowlevel tank 1 to a vessel 5 connected to the carburettor by a pipe 6 comprises a vessel 3 adapted to be connected alternately to suction and atmosphere by valve-controlled ports 9, 8 and to discharge into the vessel 5 through a valve 4. The atmospheric pipe 18 opens into the vessel 5 through a duct 17 and leads to the upper part of the carburettor float chamber 7, which is open to atmosphere. This arrangement causes vapour or fuel overflow from the vessels 3 and 5, due to overheating, to pass to the float chamber 7 through the pipe 18.
