Abstract

214,185. Sokal, S., (Norddeutsche K³hlerfabrik Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 27, 1923. Direct gas-pressure apparatus, automatic; valves for pressure fluid, actuation and arrangement of.-In a device for feeding liquid fuel from a low main tank into an intermediary vessel arranged above the engine carburettor, a single pipe is used to supply alternately the tank with pressure and the vessel with fuel therefrom. A combined gas-pressure and vacuum, single-chamber apparatus has a vessel 1 connected by a gravity-actuated valve to the carburettor, and by a fuel feed and gas pressure pipe 2 containing a flap valve 18 to a supply tank 8. Exhaust gases from the engine enter at 4, pass through gauze pipes 14, 15 and a reducing-valve 8 to a storage chamber 16, and, when the valve 11 is down and the float 7 up, pass valves 10, 11 to the tank. When the float sinks, the tappet and spring togglelever mechanism reverses the valve 11, and pressure gases in tank 3 force fuel into vessel 1. The partial vacuum in the engine intake manifold connected at 5 may assist in the charging. The float finally cuts off and breaks the vacuum by actuating valves 12, 13 when the discharge valve 32 opens. Accumulation of fuel in chamber 16 is discharged by pressure on the opening of a hand or pressure-operated relief valve 9.
