Abstract
618,109. Valves. GOULD,G.,HART, G. F., CAMPBELL, C., PARKER, W. G. S., and WHITE, C. W. GROVE-. Oct. 21, 1946, No. 31206. [Class 135] [Also in Groups XXI and XXVIII] A valve 23, Fig. 4, pressed down by a spring 39 is operated by a diaphragm 21 connected at 29, 34 to the outlet and inlet of a supercharger. It may be operated by the pressure of the exhaust gases. The diaphragm 31 closes the bottom of the chamber 28. Exhaust gas normally passes from an inlet 61, Fig. 6, to an outlet 60 through an orifice 63. Upon increase of pressure on a diaphragm 66, a valve 64 is opened against its spring 68 to allow an increase in the gas flow. Upon the back-flow of liquid through a gas outlet 72, Fig. 7, a float 78 having a ball 79 to close a drain 73 is raised, thereby closing the gas inlet 75 by a valve 76 and allowing the liquid to drain away.
