Abstract

Pressure - regulating valves; valves closing with rush of fluid.-A gas pressure regulator is provided with a supplementary valve device adapted to close the atmospheric vent in the event of the actuating diaphragms leaking appreciably. The main valve 30 is actuated by a pair of diaphragms 13, 36, subject to inlet pressure in the chamber I, outlet pressure in chambers II and IV and atmospheric pressure in the chamber III. The chamber III is connected to atmosphere through an apertured plate 40 and tube 41 closed at the top by a cap 43 having a seat for a valve 44 suspended by a pin 45. A light loosely fitting bell 42 is arranged to slide in the tube and is adapted in the event of an appreciable leakage of gas passing into the chamber III to engage the valve 44 and move it to its seat where it is held by the gas pressure while the bell sinks to the bottom of the tube.
