Abstract

153,373. Simpson, J. W. July 31, 1919. Safety cut-off valves. -A safety cut-off valve particularly applicable for use on gas supply systems is opened by hand, maintained open by the pressure of the main flow acting on a diaphragm and closed by internal weights when the pressure falls. In the form shown, the weighted conical valve 5 works in a recess 6 and is provided with.grooves 7 to establish communication between the inlet 3 and the outlet 4 when the valve is raised. The valve is secured to an actuating diaphragm 2 fitted with a knob 8 whereby the valve is opened. In a modification a light loose ball valve is held to its seat by a weight suspended from the diaphragm.
