Abstract

23,012. Picot, G. F. Nov. 25, 1913, [Convention date]. Valves closing with rush of fluid.-A device for closing the inlet to a pipe line in the event of a breakage occurring comprises a lift valve normally held open by a spring and adapted to be closed by the fluid flow acting on the valve member. The valve member 10 is guided by a spindle 9 working in a bridge-piece 7 supported by pillars 5, 6 from a partition 3, which carries the valve seat 4. When closed by the flow, the valve is held against its seat by the inlet pressure until it is reopened by a lever 20 acting through a sliding cam, which engages an extension 9<1> on the valve spindle.
