Abstract

127,312. Purser, A., and Hook, G. D. April 13, 1917. Valves closing with rush of fluid.-A lift valve B, C for controlling compressed air &c. for rock drills or pneumatic tools is adapted to move to the almost closed position, as shown, when the pipe connexion on the delivery side I is broken or removed, but is adapted to be opened by a spring L when the outlet connexion is re-made and the pipe fills up and equalizes the pressures on opposite sides of the valve. Normally, the screw guide E is screwed down until the valve is just held from its seat. The stem D slides through a guide J in the passage. In a modification, the valve is fitted with wing guides provided with outstanding projections which prevent the valve from falling out of the casing when in the fully open position.
