[Class 135] [Also in Group XXIII] A self-contained fitting for use in controlling a compressed air rock drill arranged for wet drilling has the compressed air supply controlled by a valve opened by water pressure when the pressure reaches a pre-determined minimum value. In the form shown in the Figure, the casing A has a compressed air inlet D in line with an axial bore B, an inclined outlet K for the compressed air and inclined inlet and outlet connections L, M for water. A valve member C slidably mounted in the bore B has a chamfered face c<SP>1</SP> adapted to co-operate with a seat a<SP>1</SP> about the inlet D and is formed with a cylindrical enlargement c' adapted to obturate a port a<SP>2</SP> leading to the water outlet M and to provide a shoulder c<SP>7</SP> subject to the pressure in the water inlet L. When the water pressure acting on the shoulder is sufficiently high the valve is moved against an adjustable loading spring E to open both air and water conduits. The valve can be arranged to control the air supply alone in which case the inlet L is connected to the outlet M by a conduit N. The air control valve may be formed with a graduating plug c<SP>6</SP> separated from the valve by a neck c<SP>4</SP> so as to retard the full opening of the valve.
