Abstract

26,572. Meier, E. Nov. 19. Valves closing with rush of fluid. - A valve device adapted to close in the event of the pipe bursting comprises a lift valve c actuated by a piston d against the action of a spring d' bearing against a collar on the spindle d<2>. The piston has a permanent leak r, and is acted on at one side by inlet pressure admitted through a port f and on the other side by outlet pressure admitted through a passage k constricted at l and i and connected to the neck of a Venturi tube a through which the main flow passes. A cock m is fitted on the outlet side to enable the valve to reopen when the damage has been repaired.
