Valves closing with rush of fluid.-A valve of the type normally held open by inlet and outlet pressures acting on a piston d connected to a valve c, loaded by a weighted lever k and adapted to close when the outlet pressure is abnormally reduced, has the outlet connexion made to a point just in front of the narrowest section of a Venturi tube h. The neck of the Venturi tube has an area not greater than one-eighth of the cross-section of the pipe.
