Abstract

20,572. Weller, F. W. Sept. 3. Actuating; lift valves. - A lift valve, particularly adapted for controlling the flow of gas from a cylinder in which it is stored under pressure, is normally held to its seat by two springs, one 14 stronger than the other 12, and adapted either to be opened positively or by the fluid pressure on the valve member acting against the weaker spring when the load due to the stronger spring is removed. The stronger spring 14, bears at one end against an adjustable abutment 15 secured to the tubular casing 6, and at the other end against a collar 13 on the actuating-spindle 9. The weaker spring 12 bears against the other side of the collar and against the valve member 8, which is connected to the spindle so that it is moved in one direction by the end of the spindle, and in the other by a collar 10. The lower end of the spindle is adjustably connected to links 20 pivoted to a member 19 sliding on the casing and coupled by an adjustable link 17 to a treadle 16.
