A fluid-pressure regulator comprises a valve controlling fluid flow through a conduit and connected to a movable wall having one side exposed to valve inlet pressure and its other side to atmospheric pressure to open the valve and means including a second valve operable on a predetermined increase in valve outlet pressure to expose said other side to valve outlet pressure and move the first mentioned valve towards closure to regulate the valve opening. As shown, a spring-loaded diaphragm 20 connected to a valve element 27 controlling fluid flow through a conduit 13 divides a housing 16 into upper and lower chambers 17, 18. The chamber 17 is connected to the conduit upstream of the valve through a duct 64 controlled by an electromagnetically operated valve 66 or to the atmosphere through a duct 68 controlled by a second electromagnetically operated valve 67 whilst the chamber 18 is connected to atmosphere through a duct 50 and an orifice 48 controlled by a needle valve 52. The valves 66, 67 aie operated by a single switch 72 so that when the switch is closed the valve 67 is closed and the valve 66 opened to admit inlet pressure to the chamber 17 to fully open the valve element 27. The pressure in the chamber 17 is maintained at a predetermined value by a spring-loaded diaphragm 32 and a ball element 35. The needle valve 52 is formed on the depending stem of a diaphragm-actuated valve 51 the diaphragm 58 of which is urged upwardly by a spring 63 and downwardly by valve outlet pressure. On outlet pressure reaching a predetermined value the valve 51 is unseated and the needle valve 52 closed so that outlet pressure is directed to the chamber 18 which together with a spring 28 opposes the inlet pressure in the chamber 17 to regulate the opening of the valve element 27 and maintain the outlet pressure constant.
