Abstract
847,608. Fluid-pressure servomotor control systems. REACTION MOTORS Inc. Oct. 19, 1956 [Oct. 19, 1955], No. 31918/56. Class 135. A pressure regulator for highpressure liquids or gases comprises coaxial inlet and outlet connections 10, 12 respectively, a piston 20 carrying a sealing ring 22 and movable in a chamber 18, a tubular extension 28 to the piston extending towards the inlet 10 and coacting with a fixed seat 30, 36, and auxiliary valves 42, 60 mounted on a common spindle 58 and controlling communication of the chamber to the right of the piston 20 with the inlet and outlet of the regulator. Outlet pressure has access, through openings 25 in an extension 24 of the piston and a port 68, to a diaphragm 40 connected to the valves 42, 60 whereby the valves are positioned in accordance with the outlet pressure which is opposed by an adjustable spring 48. When the outlet pressure is low the diaphragm 40 is urged towards the right to close the valve 42 and open the valve 60 thereby admitting inlet pressure through a passage 64 and port 66 to the right-hand side of the piston 20 to move the latter against a loading spring 21 to open the main valve. When outlet pressure reaches the desired value the diaphragm 40 is operated to move the valve 60 towards closure and the valve 42 away from its seating thereby bleeding the chamber to the right of the piston 20 to the outlet to allow the piston 20 to move the main valve towards closure.
