Abstract
1377331 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems DRESSER INDUSTRIES Inc 24 Jan 1973 [9 Feb 1972] 3677/73 Heading G3P A main relief valve 16 is controlled by a pilot valve 61 having means to variably pre-set the blowdown, i.e. the difference between the set pressure and the closing pressure. On the preferred embodiment, such means consists of a threaded plug 71 which may be rotated to vary the lift of the pilot valve and is set in the desired position by a pin 75 engaging one of a series of radial notches 76. Fluid from the inlet 14 acts on the pilot valve via a tube 25 and conduit 26 to lift the valve against a pre-set spring 63. Once the pilot valve has opened, fluid acts on a piston 34 to open a relay valve 41 against a spring 35 and connect a chamber 23 of the main valve through a passage 28 with the outlet 21 so that the main valve opens. A diaphragm arrangement 45 permits auxiliary operation of the relay valve when necessary. The Specification gives examples of valve dimensions and spring-loads and of the way in which blowdown is inversely related to pilot valve lift.
