Abstract

172,608. Morellini, P. Dec. 9, 1920, [Convention date]. Vacuum apparatus.-Fuel feed apparatus for internal-combustion engines comprises an outer container 1 connected by the usual sprayers to the induction pipe 16, and an inner container 9 connected to the fuel tank by passages 7, 5 and pipe 6, to the induction pipe by a passage 15, and to the atmosphere by a passage 20. The suction passage 15 has a non-return valve 18 to prevent back-fire into the chamber 9 and is controlled by a needle valve 13 carried by a float 11. The atmospheric connection 20 is controlled by a valve 21 which is held on its seat by the suction in the chamber 9 during the filling operation. When the float rises and closes the suction connection, the valve 21 opens and admits air, which discharges the fuel into the container 1 through a large valve-controlled port 22. A non-return valve is provided in the supply pipe 6.
