Abstract

162,045. Marr, J., and Coke Oven Construction Co., Ltd. Jan. 16, 1920. Gaseous - fuel furnaces. - Each heating-wall of a coke-oven battery is formed with two connected side by side horizontal flues or sets of flues, to the inlet of one of which gas and excess air are delivered, while the remainder of the gas is supplied to the other in proximity to the connecting-ports between the two. As shown in connection with an oven in which the direction of flow of the heating-gases can be reversed, the two sets of flues 6, 7 in a heating-wall are connected together by dampered end-ports 13, to regenerators 16, arranged beneath the ovens, by sole flues 12. The two flue sets associated with each oven are connected to the same sole flue. The initial supplies of gas and air are delivered through the burners 23 or 24 and the corresponding sole flue, and the additional gas is supplied through the burners 25 or 26, according as the burner 23 or 24 is in operation. The regenerators are connected in two sets to the pairs of outlet flues 17, 18, between which are gas-heating flues 19, 20. Specification 162,236 is referred to.
