Abstract
174,039. Stettiner Chamotte-Fabrik Akt.-Ges. vorm Didier. Jan. 12, 1921, [Convention date]. Gaseous-juel furnaces.-In a retort-furnace comprising a number of separate chambers each containing a group of retorts, each chamber is preliminarily heated by gas from an auxiliary gas generator arranged within the furnace setting, while the normal heating of all the retort chambers is effected bv gas supplied from a main gas producer independent of the furnace structure. Fig. 2 represents a vertical section through the centre of one of the retort chambers 11 with its auxiliary producer 3 and Fig. 4 represents an horizontal section on the lines E-F and G-H of Fig. 2. When starting up the furnace, gas from the producer 3 passes through the valve-controlled passages 9 to a longitudinal distributing- flue 12 and mixes with hot air supplied by a distributing-flue 26 before passing through the burner passages 13 into the retort chamber 11. Combustion products pass from the retort chamber through passages 14 into a flue 15, from which they flow through passages 8 of air regenerators arranged at the sides of the producer and passages 16 of a regenerator arranged above the producer 3 and adapted to heat gas from the main producer. Air-heating passages 7 and gas-heating passages 17 are arranged between the waste-gas flues of the regenerators. Air from the regenerators passes into a horizontal flue 24, central vertical flue 25 and distributing-flue 26. while gas from the regenerator passages 17 flows through the passages 22 and 23 to the distributing-flue 12. For normal working, the valves 10 of the auxiliary producers are closed and gas from an external producer is supplied to the regenerator passages 17 from a main 5 or directly by a conduit 28 to the distributing-flue 12. In the event of au auxiliary producer being out of action, the corresponding retort chamber may be supplied with gas from another auxiliary producer through. a valve-controlled flue 29 which connects the outlet flues 9 of the auxiliary producers.
