Abstract

Coke ovens.-Relates to coke ovens of the kind in which the ovens and the regenerators beneath them are supported on arches, and in which the gas supply pipes to the heating-flues are situated between the regenerators, as described, for example, in Specifications 147,231, 147,740 and 147,741. In one form in which the regenerators are compartmented transversely to correspond with the individual heating-flues. the air is supplied to the regenerators from a pressure main beneath the arches. In another form, Fig. 3, in which each of the two regenerator chambers beneath an oven is divided by a longitudinal partition so that preheated lean gas can be used for heating, the air for combustion is admitted to the regenerators under natural draught from a main 17, and the supply is controlled by dampers 41 accessible from the arches through openings provided for the purpose.
