Abstract
245,764. Daniels. J. Jan. 8, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 239,884. Coke ovens.- The heating arrangements of the parent Specification are applied to oven batteries in which the regenerators are parallel to the ovens, by connecting a group of, say, three heating- walls 19 to regenerator unit common to the group by means of distributing ducts between the ovens and regenerators, and connecting the two adjacent groups at their upper ends by ducts 22. When each group is connected to two regenerator chambers 10, 11, or 12, 13, one regenerator of the pair may be used for heating air, and the other for a diluent gas, the rich gas for combustion being then supplied through conduits 39 beneath the heating-walls. Preferably a small group of heating-flues is connected to a short collector flue 41, Fig. 4, from which three vertical flues 42 lead to a passage 43 in communication with a duct 22. The upper ends of the flues 42 are controlled by damper blocks 44. The expansion joints 40 for the battery are situated between adjacent groups of heating-walls, and the unused regenerator spaces are filled with sand.
