Abstract
439,034. Coke ovens. GAS CHAMBERS & COKE OVENS, Ltd., and KEMP, A. V., Artillery House, Artillery Row, Westminster. April 21, 1934, No. 12012. [Class 51 (ii)] In a coke-oven heating wall each of a series of combustion flues 7 is situated between and connected at the upper end to a pair of downtake flues 13 adjacent the oven walls, the flues 13 leading to common sole flues 16. As shown the oven is underfired and air for combustion may be supplied around the burner pipes 9 or through separate passages. The flues 13 are individually controlled at their outlets by damper blocks 15, and the sole flues are divided at the middle of their length and connected to two exhaust mains. All the heating-walls are identical and are built up of U-shaped blocks 4, plain blocks 5 and bonding-blocks 6, the blocks 4 being so arranged that their limbs extend in opposite directions in adjacent courses.
