393,143. Coke ovens. GIBBONS BROS., Ltd., Dibdale Works, Dudley.- (Koksofenbau und Gasverwertung Akt.- Ges.; 519, Schliessfach, Essen, Germany.) Sept. 8, 1932, No. 25018. [Class 51 (ii).] In a vertically-flued coke oven two burners 5, 6 are provided in each flue adjacent the walls 3, 4 of the adjoining ovens 1, 2 and between the burners are ribs or projections 8 formed on the header bricks 7 and extending the length of the flue, these ribs serving to reflect the heat on to the wall 3, 4. The ribs are preferably triangular, as shown, and their cross section may increase towards the upper end of the flue to compensate for the reduced temperature of the gases.
