Abstract
593,218. Bakers' ovens. MARTIN, J. V. R July 2, 1945, No. 16788. Convention date, Feb. 27. [Class 51 (ii)] A tunnel oven for biscuits &c. in which the products are carried on an endless band is divided by transverse partitions 7 into chambers, each chamber having independently controlled heating means. Flues are provided for the independent evacuation of hot gases from the chambers, and comprise ducts surrounding and in heat-exchanging relationship with the following chambers, and chimneys 12, 13, 18, 21 having regulating means 14, 15, 20, 22. The tunnel is divided by a partition into an upperspace 4 in which the baking chambers are formed and a lower space 5 in which the conveyer makes its return run 6b, the lower space being maintained at a substantiallyuniform temperature. The heating means of each section is arranged to produce zones of high heating Ia, IIa, IIIa, and zones of low heating Ib, IIb, IIIb without substantial reduction in oven temperature.
