Abstract
376,796. Coke ovens. GAS CHAMBERS & COKE OVENS, Ltd., Artillery House, Westminster.-(Collin & Co. ; 14, Beurhausstrasse, Dortmund, Germany.) Jan. 16, 1931, No. 1557. [Class 51 (ii).] The vertically-flued coke oven described in Specification 7650/07, [Class 55, Gas manufacture], is modified by so connecting the flues that some of them are fired by an upwardly flowing, and the remainder by a downwardly flowing fresh flame. In the heating-wall shown the groups of flues z<1> are connected at their lower ends directly to the regenerator r<1>, and at their upper ends through passages i in the flue partition walls to an adjacent regenerator, while the other flues z<2> are connected through the passages i to the regenerator r<1>, and by direct connections to the adjacent regenerator. In a modification upflow and downflow flues alternate along the length of the heating-wall. The oven may be designed for rich gas firing, or for alternative rich and lean gas firing, and the regenerators may be either longitudinal or transverse.
