377,304. Coke ovens. GAS CHAMBERS & COKE OVENS, Ltd., Artillery House, Westminster.-(Collin & Co. ; 14, Beurhausstrasse, Dortmund, Germany.) Jan. 16, 1931, No. 12787/32. Divided on 376,796. [Class 51 (ii).] In a vertically-flued coke oven in which all the flues of a heating wall operate simultaneously for upflow or downflow as described in Specification 7650/07, [Class 55, Gas manufacture], the transverse regenerators are grouped in threes, each group comprising a wide regenerator r, or r<2> flanked by two smaller ones f<1>, or f<2>. The regenerators r<1>, f<1> have direct connections p<1>, q<1> to the lower ends of the heating flues k, while the regenerators r<2>, f<2> are connected to the upper ends of the flues through passages i in the flue partitions. The wider regenerators, which are preferably used for gas, are connected to two heating walls and the narrower ones to a single wall. The regenerators may be subdivided by transverse partitions.
